SOUTHERN STATES IX WOODTURNING SYMPOSIUM
Thanks to everyone that attended, we had another 'great' Symposium. We had 283 total in attendance, and we raised $7,130 at the Auction, the proceeds of which go towards awarding full and course only scholarships to the John C. Campbell Folk School. Sincere thanks to all the people that participated in winning the bids at the Auction.
Very special thanks to:
• Our 4 featured demonstrators – Soren Berger, John Jordan, Dennis Liggett, and Alan Hollar (who graciously filled in for Chris Ramsey). Thanks for giving of your time and special talents to share with the attendees.
• Our guest demonstrators – Frank, Bowers, Rex Burningham, Nick Cook,Jamie Donaldson, Bruce Hoover, and Kimberly Winkle.
• John Hill for graciously volunteering to be our auctioneer. Believe John got every dollar that was available, and then some!
• The vendors that signed on to be a part of our symposium. We hope that you had good sales and will return for our 10th Symposium. And one big thanks for your donations to our Auction.
• All the guys that volunteered to man the video cameras during the presentations. And to those that helped out at Registration, Instant Gallery, and Auction.
• To those that donated an item(s) to the Auction. We appreciate your contributions and support.
• All that brought their woodturned items for display in the instant Gallery - there were many great pieces for everyone's enjoyment.
• All the Board members and their wives for making '09 a great success.
Congratulations to the winners of the $25 Gift Certificates and door prizes.
SOUTHERN STATES X - April 23, 24, & 25, 2010 - Our featured demonstrators will be Dixie Biggs from Florida, George Hatfield from Australia, Mike Mahoney from Utah, and Michael Mocho from New Mexico.
Thanks to everyone for making Southern States IX a great success. Mark your calendars and we'll see you in April '10.
